河流人（The River Person）是個戴著兜帽的形體，用他的木舟帶著主角於雪町、瀑布、熱地之間旅行。
在旅途中，他會隨機說出一段對話，通常是對遊戲中某些祕密的提示、某些事物的典故，或者只是裝可愛。

- 有時候，河流人的船頭會有一隻狗臉，在這個狀態下的船行駛時會長出四肢，並且在水面上奔跑。這類似於 Mother 3 裡的 Lucas 騎乘他的移動桌子（ Running Table）。
- 河流人很可能基於 Charon，希臘神話裡 Styx 河的擺渡人而發想。
- 河流人性別不明，因為他並未提及。不過由於他的名字是「spr_riverman」，因此他較有可能是位男性。
- 河流人被用於地底世界的公眾運輸，這點可以在與 Papyrus 和 Undyne 通話時聽到的暗示中得知。
